Dr. Paul Yatso

Doctor of Veterinary Medicine

Dr. Yatso founded Hometown Veterinary Clinic in May 1990.  He received his doctorate from the University of Minnesota College of Veterinary Medicine in 1986.  Hometown was originally a mobile bovine and companion animal practice, until 2005 when Dr. Yatso and his wife Gail built the current clinic on Highland Drive.  Dr. Yatso enjoys his hobby farm, cooking, making beer and wine, hunting, fishing, and cheering for the Brewers and the Packers.

 

What is your favorite book?  "Colors of the Firestorm by Linda Brieno."

If you could have any superpower what would it be?  "To heal with touch."

You can be any animal-what are you?  "Wolf."

Dr. Kate Carlson

Doctor of Veterinary Medicine

Dr. Kate received her doctorate from the University of Minnesota College of Veterinary Medicine in 2006.  She also holds certifications in veterinary spinal manipulative therapy from The Healing Oasis Wellness Center and in acupuncture through the Chi Institute of Traditional Chinese Veterinary Medicine.  Dr. Kate is interested in the human-animal bond, internal medicine, and optimizing quality of life in her patients.  She and her husband, Mike, live on their farm where Dr. Kate enjoys caring for the animals and gardening.  She also enjoys art, movies, and traveling.

 

What is your favorite book?  "I can’t choose just one!"

If you could have any superpower what would it be?  "Telekinesis."

You can be any animal-what are you?  "Warthog."

TECHNICIANS & SUPPORT STAFF

Heather, Certified Veterinary Technician

Heather is a graduate of the University of Wisconsin-Green Bay where she majored in biology with an emphasis in animal science.  She also earned a degree in veterinary technology from Globe University before joining the Hometown team in 2014.  Heather shares her home with her husband, Shawn, and her Australian Shepherd, Audrey.  In her free time, she enjoys traveling to visit family and friends.

 

What is your favorite book?  "Picture Perfect by Jodi Picoult."

If you could have any superpower what would it be?  "To fly!"

You can be any animal-what are you?  "Wolf."

Amelia, Certified Veterinary Technican

Amelia received her degree in veterinary technology from Globe University and became a certified veterinary technician in 2016.  She and her husband, Josh, share their home with their dogs, a cat, some outdoor feathered critters, and two rabbits.  Amelia enjoys movies, games, stock herding, and spending quality time with her family.

 

What is your favorite book?  "The Blue Sword by Robin McKinley."

If you could have any superpower what would it be?  "To talk to animals, of course!"

You can be any animal-what are you?  "Wolf."

Kim, Veterinary Technician

Kim has been a technician at Hometown since 2007.  Working with animals has been a passion for Kim since she was a little girl working at a stable in Chicago.  Currently, she has a hobby farm with her boyfriend, Justin, that includes horses, a pony, geese, chickens, goats, rabbits, dogs, and cats.  When Kim isn’t tending to her animals (which isn’t very often!), she enjoys horseback riding, reading, and fishing.

 

What is your favorite book?  "50 Shades of Gray by E. L. James."

If you could have any superpower what would it be?  "To live forever without aging."

You can be any animal-what are you?  "Definitely a house cat."

Laurie, Receptionist/Veterinary Assistant

Laurie joined our team in December of 2013.  She and her husband, John, share their country home with their dog and cats. Laurie enjoys hiking, snowshoeing, kayaking, and camping. Previously employed as a graphic artist, she enjoys design and being creative, but her true passion is, and always has been, to work with animals.

 

What is your favorite book?  "Master of the Game by Sidney Sheldon."

If you could have any superpower what would it be?  "To eat anything and not gain weight."

You can be any animal-what are you?  "Dolphin."

McKenzie, Receptionist/Veterinary Assistant

McKenzie (or, as we say, Kenzie) joined our front desk staff in 2017.  She is passionate about animals and helping them and their owners in any way she can.  She and her husband, Tyler, share their home with their husky, Axle, in their hometown of Oconto Falls.  In McKenzie’s free time, she enjoys kayaking, fitness, and spending time with family.

 

What is your favorite book?  "The Art of Racing in the Rain."

If you could have any superpower what would it be?  "To be invisible."

You can be any animal-what are you?  "Wolf."

Gail Yatso, Clinic Administrator

Gail is the clinic administrator and co-owner of Hometown. She prides herself on creating a progressive, compassionate environment for our patients and clients. Gail is an active volunteer in our community. She is passionate about her family, the outdoors, fitness, nutrition, and being a certified personal trainer.  She enjoys spending her free time with the animals at her hobby farm and digging in the dirt.

 

What is your favorite book?  "The Bible."

If you could have any superpower what would it be?  "To know the answer to all questions."

You can be any animal-what are you?  "Owl."
